In the second portion of my reading Ive found that Esme's teaching style is very abstract and "up front". For example, there is a part in the book where she makes one of her students teach for the day while she was disruptive (as he was) when teaching. I think her style of teaching is very odd although it seems to work extremely well in the inner city school environment. Also, I believe Esme cares about her students more than the reader would expect because although she can be very odd with her teaching style she attempts to engage the students in creative and imaginary thinking. An example of this would be when she created the "time machine" for her students. Overall I feel that Esme cares about her students and really tries to get them engaged as best she can.
